The next trip I helped out Glen – Another hunting guide from Ngamatea, He had a big party from Tauranga and Auckland to look after over a weekend. We had a very successful trip with everybody getting a deer or two. John and his young fella Brad shot there first deer each, both Sika hinds. Brad’s deer was shot nice and close.

Back in the North Island I have been guiding clients that were mainly after some meat for the freezer Kurt and Andrew from Auckland and Tokoroa who shot there first deer each with me last year, decided to come back for another go and they were successful again this year with a couple of Sika, both were taken with my custom built Remington mod 700 in 7mm Rem Mag.

I have been extra busy this winter I started down the South Island of NZ helping out a friend who has just recently started guiding people on hunting trips.
I had a client from Hawkes Bay wanting to have a go for a trophy bull Tahr so I joined him as the official cameraman.
We hunted on private property open to outfitters and hunting guides about 45 minutes from Ashburton.
Cory was successful on the last day of the trip shooting a magnificent 12” Trophy Bull at just over 300 yards with his Remington 7mm RUM rifle which I had built up for him.

My next trophy hunt for the year was for a red stag – I had watched this beauty stag on a few scouting trips before the roar and to date he is the best stag I have taken with a client he went over 330 NZDS and I was just as wrapped as my client was.
Gary pulled of a brilliant shot with a 7mm RM knocking him over at 400 yards – he is currently getting mounted at Kaweka taxidermy.

We started the year of nicely with this Fallow buck which we videoed for a while.
He was making lots of grunts and busy moving around a small patch of native marking out his territory – A nice way to christen Greg’s new rifle with a good shot around 200 yards.
